In 1994 I started like most people with a couple Elaphe Guttata Guttata.
After several years and to have had various snakes and other reptiles
such as iguanas, spiders and a Nile lizard, I have purchased my first
(young) Boa Constrictor Imperator (1.0)
in August 1998.
In June 1999 I was offered a neglected adult Boa Constrictor C.
(0.1).
She was in a terrarium of 80x40x50 cm with a large scorch mark on her
back of the lamp.
She was about 1 meter long 70.
I have treated her
scorch mark
and set her aside (obviously in a larger enclosure).
This same time I bought a young female, a Boa Constrictor Constrictor.
Due to space limitations a few months later, I have put the (neglected)
Boa CC with the Boa CI.
To my surprise, she had given birth in June 2000 to seven young boas and
a number of unfertilized eggs.
The Imperator has been the only male who's been around her, before she
came to me she always was alone and I did not have another male.
The Imperator was about 1 year old when he has paired with this female!
This was the beginning of my breeding with Boas.
I have bred with this female a number of years.
I eventually sold my 'ordinary' boas and went on with breeding other
types of boas.
In May 1999 I bought a couple Surinam Red-Tail Boas, 1998 offspring.
What a nasty eaters were they in the beginning, but very beautiful
snakes.
In August 2003, she had given birth to nine unfertilized eggs and two
dead young.
Terribly!
They already had two attempts before with without result.
In September 2005 my efforts was rewarded with 21 healthy red-tailed
young.
In 2005, they had paired but she was not pregnant.
In 2008 I again had a nest with red tails.
25 were beautiful young was born.
In 2007 I purchased couple Guyana Red Tails.
